Hello World!

It's the start of my blog! I've been wanting to start one for some time, and I finally came around to it. I personally was never too fond of the layout or structure of the Blogger platform, but after trying to figure out how to use Wordpress.com, I understood one of the reasons people gravitate towards Blogger - it's so much easier to work with!

This blog will revolve mainly around miniature painting, though I will inevitably go on tangents that are minimally related to the topic.

I have several reasons for starting this blog. Mainly, I wanted to keep track of my progress. I do have an Ikea Detolf shelf to keep some of my completed miniatures, but it is already full, and I can't currently justify having another in my relatively small apartment. Plus, some of the miniatures I paint I don't ever really put into the display case, so I will rarely really see the fruits of my effort for those minis (this is for minis largely for CMON games, e.g. Zombicide Arcadia Quest, etc). I have struggled with depression for many years and I found it helpful to remind myself of the progress I make in various areas of my life. It can be frustrating for me tow work on a bunch of miniatures only to put them in boxes, and then forget that I ever made any progress in that area of my life. This demand was previously largely met via forum hobby blogs, but seeing that one's progress can simply disappear into the void due to technical issues of the forum sites or simple closure (as seen with the issues at Warseer, and The Warhammer Forum closing down), I decided to venture out and keep a log on a relatively stable platform.

Secondly, I want to be able to share my ideas and engage with others who are also part of the miniature painting hobby. This may not be the best format to do so, but I want to be able to put my thoughts down on paper first, and have engagement second. I don't want to clog up the remaining forums, reddit or facebook with drawn-out posts; I know I rarely read those, and it also doesn't feel good to pour your heart and thoughts out only to be ignored by so many. This platform sets the priorities such that the ability to put my thoughts down on e-paper come first, and entertainment for others come second. I am well aware that there are countless hobby blogs out there, and that hoping for engagement is a hilarious thought out the gate. Nonetheless, I look forward to this blogging experience as a way to see what kind of value I can create for others; I do have some of my own ideas to share and hopefully those might be found to be useful by somebody out there.

My goal is to update the blog at least once every 2 weeks, as my personal hobby goals are to spend at least 2 to 4 hours per week working on hobby related activities.

Thanks for reading! Hope to see you around!
